Alan Baker has won the Benson and Hedges illustrators gold award, Gold Creative Circle award, Silver Campaign Press award. IRA/CBC. Childrens Choice award and was a flair Creative match winner [Nov 04].
He illustrated The Battle of bubble and squeak, by Philippa Pearce which won the 1978 whitbread book award, as well as Joni Mitchel's both sides now,[ Y.E.S. award of excellence-USA] and Michael Rosen's Hairy tales and nursery crimes - [No 1 best seller]. Louis de Berniere's Red Dog received a V&A illustration award nomination 2002].
He has also written and illustrated over 40 books of his own, six of which have been chosen for the book of the year list.
