The Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology asked the medical & scientific illustrator for a Mechanism of Disease illustration (MOD) on the subject of Sickle Cell Disease.
Alex's piece educates the reader on the process as genetic mutation causes the production of a form of haemoglobin that polymerises into rigid rods which reshape the red blood cell.
