Epic

Founded in 2013, Epic! consists of two like-minded collaborators – Marina Procházka and Maurício Cardoso – who create illustrations not just for glamorous global consumer brands, but also for some of the most important social causes in Brazil and abroad. Marina’s strong line work, bold colours and big characters are powered by punk, Riot Grrrl and feminism, with a touch of psychedelia thrown in too. Maurício uses finer lines and a softer palette, playing with naivety and humour, drawing inspiration from creatives like Drew Struzan, Storm Thorgerson and the great comic artists of the 70s, 80s and 90s. And the pair inspire each other, crafting work their clients are proud to have representing their brands, while enjoying the enthusiasm, good humour and professionalism that characterises every Epic! project.

Approach

Both Marina and Maurício use vector graphic tools to create their illustrations, with Maurício remixing various references in his sketching, while Marina enjoys taking a mixed-media approach and always features strong women in her imagery.

Style

The bold, eye-catching Epic! style has a strong graphic feel to it, with social purpose, humour and a unique personality evident in each project.
