Quarantine Book Club

Kathryn Rathke creates portraits of the authors featured in a Seattle-based online book club.

The “Quarantine Book Club” is held over Zoom and although it attracts largely Seattle-based people, there are attendees from all over the world as the word spreads. Kathryn's job is to supply a portrait of the author in discussion and this month Joan Didion’s ‘White Album', (a collection of essays from 1968), is being discussed. Kathryn had already created a wonderful portrait of older Didion but decided to produce a younger version, more appropriate for the era being studied. She adds, "I created the younger one to be a comparable version, with same pose, etc, a nice pair of bookends!"
